The Andorran Bureau has signed up to become an official supporter of the Charter of Road Traffic Victims Rights

Bureau Andorrà says Charter carries international meaning of commitment to assist victims as they become official supporters

Bureau Andorrà has said the Charter of Road Traffic Victims Rights carries “international meaning”, signalling their “commitment to assist victims”.

The remarks were made as the Andorran Bureau, officially known as Oficina Andorrana d’Entitats d’Assegurança d’Automòbil joined the list of supporter of the Charter.

Since 1993, the commitment of the Bureau Andorrà has been focused on ensuring international mobility and providing support to victims of road accidents, promoting the importance of mandatory insurance, and continuing to work towards the goal of zero road casualties. Bureau Andorrà specifically guarantees compensation for victims of accidents caused by foreign vehicles in the Principality of Andorra, as well as those caused by Andorran vehicles in other countries (deemed insurance cover in EEA countries and additional countries) in accordance with international conventions and the Green Card System within the framework of COB.

Speaking about their decision to support the Charter, President of Bureau Andorrà, Mrs. Edith Rossell said, “As a small bureau in a small country we are acutely aware of how important it is to respect the rights of the victims. We know that behind each of the road traffic accidents we handle are people who have experienced a significant shock that has already disrupted their lives. Our objective then is to ensure they receive the fair treatment they deserve in such moments. We place great emphasis on being open to everyone we deal with and are committed to the well-being of our citizens and those who visit us from abroad.

“We want everyone to know that if they need to deal with us in connection with a road traffic accident then we will make every effort we can to support them. That is why the Charter is so important to us. Supporting it carries international meaning, signalling our commitment to assist victims. We want everyone to know that these are the values the Bureau Andorrà espouses,” she said.

The Charter of Road Traffic Victims Rights was developed to help all those who could be impacted by road traffic accidents receive the best possible assistance. Originally developed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Institute for European Traffic Law (IETL) and COB, it serves as a ‘code of conduct’ for all those involved in the compensation of road traffic victims.

Edith Rossell, President of the Bureau Andorrà expresses the importance of the Charter of Road Traffic Victims Rights and why they are supporting it.
