UCI (Ufficio Centrale Italiano) is the first Green Card Bureau to become an official supporter of the Charter for Road Traffic Victims Rights. They have hailed the importance of the Charter saying it helps “remind us that we must act fairly and transparently” towards victims.
Following the recent launch of our campaign to encourage more insurers and insurance bodies to express their support for the Charter, UCI were the first to respond.
Speaking about their desire to officially support the Charter, Stefano Scavo, Presidente of UCI said, “UCI strongly support the Charter, which contains the fundamental principles and values of our claims management activity. The Charter also reminds us that we must act fairly and transparently not only because the law requires it, but also because we must protect the victims in every possible way.”
The Charter was developed to benefit all those who could be impacted by road traffic accidents by ensuring they receive the best possible assistance. It serves as a ‘code of conduct’ for all those involved in the compensation of road traffic victims. The Charter was originally developed through an agreement between the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Institute for European Traffic Law (IETL) and COB.
Originally founded in 1953, Ufficio Centrale Italiano (UCI) is the Italian Green Card Bureaux. UCI intervenes in the case of motor accidents which occur on Italian territory which were the responsibility of a vehicle registered and insured outside of Italy. UCI is a proud member of COB and strives to foster a vision based on close collaboration with correspondents across the motor insurance sector.
Following the launch of the campaign to spread awareness and encourage greater support of the Charter, additional organisations have already expressed their interest in joining the list of official supporters. We expect to announce details of further supporters in the coming days and weeks.
